DAS ATELIER
DAS ATELIER is a a Freelance Artist Studio Management service which provides On-line and Off-line support to Artists at any stage of their career. With a catered approach that takes individual needs into account, Dominique Suberville believes that the Artist, the work, and the studio are an interlinked mechanism. No matter at what stage of your career you are at, the administrative and arduous work of managing your practice, should not get in the way of the work.
DAS ATELIER offers three different levels of support based on the specific stage of their career an Artist finds themselves in. Each level takes into account an Artist’s available resources as well as their specific administrative and management needs. Whether you are an Emerging Artist with limited resources, a Mid-Career Artist needing support with a growing studio, or an Established Artist with a small team, Suberville concerns herself with getting to know you as an Artist and your Studio as a unique working organism.
Who I am
Hi! My name is Dominique Suberville. I am an artist and art professional with over 15 years of experience in the art industry.
I started consulting artists for three simple reasons:
First, I love working with and supporting artists. In my career I have worked in artists’ studios, galleries, art publications, and taken part in exhibitions and fairs as an artist. I also developed an artist-talk program where I invited peers to share their work with an audience. I have come to find that learning about each artist’s individual story and way of working is its own unique narrative, and having the opportunity to be part of their career journey is a privilege and a joy.
Second, I know firsthand how difficult being an artist is and how complex running a studio can be. Artists want to focus on producing their work, and managing and administrating their studios is often not at the top of the list of tasks. I want to be that supportive hand in their careers.
Third, I once had someone support me during the initial stages of my career. Their incredible support and guidance set me up to hone in on what mattered to me and what didn’t; gave me confidence in my working style; and allowed me to formalize and professionalize my studio.
What makes me unique as an artist studio manager is my clear understanding that artists at different stages of their careers require different kinds of support. Whether you are starting out and need help formalizing your artistic identity and professionalizing your studio, or you are an established artist with too much on your plate, my job is to have a clear understanding of your specific needs and to set benchmarks and tasks to meet them.
Originally from Mexico, I received my BFA from Parsons, The New School for Design, in 2012 and my MA in Sociology from The New School for Social Research in 2016. I also took a short course in art history and curating at Central Saint Martins in London. I have exhibited internationally and have worked in the art industry in various roles for over 15 years. I am currently based in Berlin.
